RAAPA will combine laughter and song
RUMFORD – On Friday and Saturday, April 24-25, the Rumford Association for the Advancement of the Performing Arts will present three one-act comedies, capped off with a choral review performed by the RAAPA Choir, now in its 40th year.
Plays will include “Who Shot Willie?,” a murder mystery/comedy featuring Barbara Arsenault, Connie Venskus, Wayne Landry, Rhonda Gallant and Jim Robertson; “Charity Begins …” with Gail Parent, Anita Murphy, Martha Hanington and Mary Hickey; and “If Men Played Cards the Way Women Do” with Robertson, Al Hanington, Mark Gaudet and Landry.
The RAAPA Chorus will present a mini-concert featuring these songs: “Crazy” (women only), “Accentuate the Positive,” “Here Comes the Sun,” “Elvira” (men only), “Dream,” “All Aboard” with dancers Debbie Brown and Christine Murphy, plus a medley from “Phantom of the Opera” showcasing soloists Rhonda Gallant, Alex Szeps, Kelly Harvell, Robertson and Elaine Michaud.
Gail Dorr is accompanist for the chorus. Judith Kuhn, who celebrates her 40th year with RAAPA, is directing the plays.
Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the show starting at 6 p.m. at the Eagles Hall. Tickets are available by advance reservation only by calling Murphy at 369-0205 or from a participating member. The price is $30 per person, which includes hors d’oeuvres, buffet dinner, dessert, tax, gratuity and entertainment. There will also be a cash bar.
