Monsta band grows with new members

RUMFORD – The rock band Monsta recently added two new members. Dano McDonald, lead vocals, Mike Downs, lead guitar, and Troy “Rock Star” Provencher, lead bass, welcomed Rene Lee on rhythm guitar and bass and D-No “Hitman” Gilbert filling the vacant drum seat.

McDonald said, “I’m very excited about the new Monsta; we have all been friends forever and have all worked with each other on many different projects. Now we are all in one solid project and loving it.”

Gilbert said, “These guys have really put Rene and I through the wringer. We have been rehearsing pretty much nonstop to get all of the set lists down. The level of musicianship in this band is outrageous. When I’m not rehearsing with the band, I’m wood shedding at home. I love the challenging environment and Dano’s wife, Jess, (she rocks) cooks us supper.”

Monsta plays all over western Maine, like the Hotel Rumford on Friday night, May 15. For more information, call Dano at 357-9589.
