AUGUSTA – The Maine State Museum’s Nature Discovery Day Saturday, April 25, will feature natural history educator Tony Sohns (“The Bug Man”) and museum curators David and Paula Work.

Admission to the museum will be free all day.

A popular exhibitor at the museum’s annual Bug Maineia, Sohns will return with two fun and engaging live animal programs. At 11 a.m., he will present “Life on Earth” and at 1 p.m., he will talk about “Maine Amphibians.”

“Tony is a great storyteller and with his live creatures, holds visitors spellbound while sharing fascinating information,” said Joanna Torow, chief educator at the museum. Sohns presents nature programs to groups all over the state, while helping to run his family’s business, The Rock and Art Shop, in Ellsworth.

From noon to 4 p.m., David and Paula Work will set up their Curators Corner, when museum visitors can bring in rocks, fungi and other favorite natural objects. The two will help identify the objects as well as provide fun facts and information.

The Maine State Museum, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is adjacent to the State House.
