SCARBOROUGH – Christianne Marie D’Auteuil, 34, of Gorham Road, died Thursday, April 23, at Casa with family and caregivers at her side as she began her new life.

As with all children, from the time of her birth on Nov. 21, 1974, Chrissie was a special child to her parents, Jean-Paul and Theresa Janosco D’Auteuil. From birth, she may have been limited by her physical challenges, but shared her love with those around her by her audible laughter.

She became the special guest at functions and outings, many times upstaging the main event as the social butterfly, being the “Belle of the Ball.” Although she didn’t have any formal education, she educated those around her with her Ph.D. in uplifting spirits. Her angelic smile and genuine love always carried the day.

She has lived at the Casa ICF/MR Home in Scarborough for 17 years. She attended the Morrison Developmental Center on a daily basis to receive physical and movement skills. She loved to be noticed, complimented and to be physically and verbally stimulated.

She enjoyed music, especially French music, being talked to in French, playing Yahtzee with housemates, being read to, going on field trips; to parks, ballgames, movies, concerts, even shopping, especially if it was for new clothes. Playing musical chairs and bingo also were on her list of enjoyable things to do. She loved to be on the dance floor, first on, last to leave.

She is survived by her parents of New Gloucester; a sister, Andrea M. Vaughan and husband, Keith, of Fairfield; three brothers, Jean-Paul D’Auteuil II and wife, Heather, of Scarborough, Scott D’Auteuil and wife, Deanna, of New Gloucester and Matthew D’Auteuil and fiancée, Katherine Morrone, of New Gloucester; her maternal grandparants, George and Therese Janosco of Lisbon Falls; aunts and uncles; a niece and four nephews; cousins; her family at Casa; and special friends, Tracie Hanna, Scott, Cindy, and Jennifer Smith.

She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Fern and Julie D’Auteuil.

Her parents, brothers, and sister would like to express their gratitude to ALL of the staff at Casa for the loving care they gave Chrissie during her 17 years with them. You have all become part of our family. You will be in our hearts and minds as we leave Casa knowing that the children still in your loving, gentle care are getting the very best of care. Thank-you!
