WATERFORD – A 15-year-old was arrested last week on charges of stealing a vehicle in Waterford and committing a burglary in Norway.

A 2000 Dodge Strata was reported stolen from the Valley Road in Waterford on April 11. It was found later the same day on Route 118 in Norway, burned out. Lt. Walter Grzyb of the Maine State Police said the Fire Marshal’s Office was called to investigate, but he did not know if they were able to determine whether the fire was accidental or not.

Grzyb said Trooper Adam Fillebrown investigated the matter and charged the 15-year-old with theft. Grzyb said he also anticipates that a 17-year-old will be charged with unauthorized use of property.

“It’s a similar charge, but the theft is somewhat of a more similar charge,” he said.

The 15-year-old also confessed to burglary in Norway, where tools had been stolen. Fillebrown was able to recover the tools, the lieutenant said.
