MEXICO – Six people have indicated interest in being elected to the Board of Selectmen on June 9.

Longtime Selectman Arthur Bordeau resigned in early April with a year left on his term. Returning nomination papers for the position are Mabel Merrill, wife of incumbent Selectman Peter Merrill; Andrew Dupuis, owner of Dupuis Auto Parts in Mexico; Betty Barrett, a current SAD 43 and Region 9 School of Applied Technology member; and Reginald Arsenault, a former selectmen.

Selectman Richard Philbrick, a public works employee for Rumford, is being challenged by Budget Committee member Byron Ouellette, who owns a small tire business in town.

Other selectmen are Chairwoman Barbara Laramee and George Byam.

Mexico residents will vote on the warrant during a referendum June 9.
