RUMFORD – For the next nine weeks, workers with the U.S. Census Bureau will be knocking on doors in Oxford County.
They will be verifying addresses in preparation for the 2010 census, said Rumford police Capt. Daniel Garbarini. He wants to alert residents.
“Someone may pose as one to gain personal information,” Garbarini said, but legitimate census-takers will not ask for personal information and all census employees will have identification cards.
“If for some reason they start asking for personal information like credit card numbers and banking account numbers, please contact the Police Department,” Garbarini said.
