RUMFORD – Police went door to door last week along Knox and Franklin streets notifying the neighborhood that a convicted sex offender had moved there from another local address.

Capt. Daniel Garbarini said that as required by state law, Kevin A. Bradley, 33, notified police on Thursday that he had moved from his Route 108 address and is now living in Apartment 2 at 5 Knox St.

“He moved where he’s closer to a school, and so, there are more kids around,” Garbarini said Tuesday.

Bradley now lives near Holy Savior Parish School, formerly St. Athanasius and St. John Elementary School, on Franklin Street.

Through a plea arrangement in 2004 in Oxford County Superior Court in Paris, Bradley pleaded guilty to five felony charges of gross sexual assault on a young boy. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison with all but one year suspended, and 12 years of probation.

Judge Roland A. Cole stipulated that Bradley register for the rest of his life as a violent sexual predator, undergo sex-offender treatment and counseling, and have no unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16.

“He has not been a problem with us,” Garbarini said. “He’s been compliant with our registration dates, but due to the severity of his crimes, we notified the neighborhood to educate the community and allow them to make better informed decisions with the knowledge about who’s living in their community.”
