I have just read in the Sun Journal that Maine’s U.S. Sen. Susan Collins was surprised and disappointed that my senator, Arlen Specter, changed parties. There was a good reason for this change.
The hard-right-wing conservatives of her Republican Party did not like the way Specter voted and were going to do everything in their power to oust him. That is why he made the switch.
My advice to Collins, a moderate just like Specter, is to join him and become a Democrat before those same irrational people come after her.
