BOOTHBAY – The Boothbay Railway Village will be offering free train rides to mothers from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 9
Train rides for “nonmothers” will cost $3 per person, toddlers 2 and under are free. In an effort to celebrate Mothers Day the museum is offering this “We are not really open” train-rides only event. Museum exhibits and the Museum Store will not be available on this day.
The museum will be open for the season and in full operation on May 23, Memorial Day Weekend. Attendees will see be the debut of the unique octagonal Woodfords Crossing Shanty. Visitors to Saturday’s event will also be able to purchase Day Out With ThomasTM tickets scheduled for August 7-9 and 14-16. A Thomas locomotive toy will be available to the first 50 ticket purchasers.
At 3 p.m., there will be a presentation on the making of the first locomotive boiler built in Maine since 1906. This talk will take place in the town hall and include a shop tour.
