LEWISTON – Carlene J. Mc Quarrie, 58, of 270 Winthrop St., Hallowell, died Monday, May 4, at Central Maine Medical Center after a long illness with her family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston, Feb. 25, 1951, a daughter of the late Carl and Alice Brown Smith. She graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1970, and attended Husson College.

She worked as treasurer for the city of Hallowell and the town of Randolph, did bookkeeping for the SU 42 and SAD 16, and she operated the cafeteria for the blind and visually impaired at D.E.P. Augusta.

She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Family Church and was a horse lover of the Morgan Breed. She was a big fan of the rock band U2.

She is survived by her husband, John McQuarrie of Hallowell, whom she married on Feb. 14, 1975; a daughter, Julia Gibson and husband, Gary, of Lewiston; a sister, Nancy Ward of Lisbon Falls; and a granddaughter, Kaydence Eire Gibson of Lewiston.
