AUGUSTA – Leslie-Jean Hutchins Bodge, 52, of Whitefield, passed peacefully on May 8, at Maine General Hospital after a long and noble battle with cancer.

She was born in Lewiston to Vinton and Jean Hutchins on Nov. 24, 1956. She graduated from Leavitt Area High School in 1975.

A devoted and thoughtful grandmother, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, reading, and traveling to visit family. Deeply rooted in the Whitefield community, where she moved with husband, David, in 1987, she was a member of the Lion’s Club, the volunteer rescue and an active participant in the American Cancer Societys annual Relay-for-Life. She sewed dresses and pajamas for the girls and always got in trouble for bringing too many lollipops when she visited. Her grandson, Braden, loved coming to Grammie’s house to play with the cats, build Legos, and watch Disney movies beside her.

She is survived by husband, David; her son, Keith, and his wife, Erica, and their son, Braden; her daughter, Melissa and husband, Derek, and their three children, Gabrielle, Susanna and Claire; her father, Vinton Hutchins of Turner; sisters, Sheila Coleman and Melody Dunlap; father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Dorothy Bodge of Wiscasset.

She was predeceased by her mother, Jean Ruth Hutchins.

The family thanks the nurses of Health Reach Hospice and the A-4 Oncology floor at Maine General for comforting Leslie and her family during her final days.
