Fourth-graders at Rumford Elementary School have been learning how the country was settled by studying immigration and homesteading. In Denise Richard’s class, 12 out of 22 pupils know where each of the 50 states is located, including Abby Mazza and Jesse Moniz, above. Youngsters also created a giant poster and dressed as immigrants who entered the United States through Ellis Island. Abby and Jesse are shown with their homesteading projects. Ellis Island and prairie posters are in the background.
