The Lewiston City Council, mayor, city administrator, city attorney and the Sun Journal have done a great injustice to the citizens of this community.
After having the issue of who has authority to do what under the city charter aired on the front page of the newspaper, it is only fitting that some clarification be given to alleviate all the underlying conflicts it created.
There is enough blame to go around as to who may or may not be guilty of bending the rules and there is no need for finger pointing. However, a disservice was done to residents — and voters — of this city and it needs to be corrected.
What the city charter states should be a matter of public record and did not need to be discussed in executive session.
