RUMFORD – Stella C. (Belskis) Volkernick, 95, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, at her home.

She was born in Rumford, Nov. 30, 1913, the daughter of Josephine (Yencus) and Bronis Belskis. She married Adolph J. Volkernick, on Sept. 5, 1931, in Rumford; he passed away in 1973. She was a communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John Catholic Church, and was a member of the Daughters of Lithunania of Rumford.

She worked at Rumford Hospital, Dan’s Italian Shop, Diamond Match Co., and the Madison Restaurant until she retired at age 85.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph Volkernick and wife, Barbara, of Rumford and John Volkernick and wife, Jean, of Rumford; a daughter, Lilly Burns and husband, Rae, of Dixfield; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Volkernick of Largo, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Adolph Volkernick; two sons, Paul Sr. and Anthony (Tony) Volkernick; a daughter-in-law, Laura Volkernick; three sisters, Violet Brideau and Josephine Botkus and Bernice Belskis; and two brothers, Adam Belskis and Bernard Belskis.
