CUMBERLAND – With two outs in the top of the sixth inning, Alex Parker rifled a double to left field to score Aaron Allen to record what would prove to be the game-winning run to give St. Dom’s a 4-3 victory over Greely in WMC baseball action Monday.

The Rangers (11-3) were ranked No. 1 in Western Class B in the latest Heal Point rankings. The victory should shoot the Saints up the Western C standings.

Ben Randall also hit an RBI double in the third inning for the Saints (11-1), while Allen and Shane Curtis finished the day each with a double as well.

The Greely (11-3) effort was led by Kevin Hart with a two-run double in the third inning. Ryan Howard chipped in with a pair of singles.

Buckfield sweeps

BUCKFIELD – The Buckfield baseball team won both games in its doubleheader against Vinalhaven, 14-4 in the first contest and 11-0 in the second, in local baseball action held Monday afternoon.

In the opener, Tyler Weymouth and Kasey Robertson each smacked two singles and recorded two RBIs apiece for the 14-4 win, while Tony Fortier finished the game with a double and two base hits. The Bucks took advantage of 10 Vinalhaven errors.

Both Bryan Litchfield and Cody White hit a two-run single for the 11-0 Buckfield (8-4) shutout in the second match. Weymouth earned the win in this game, striking out six batters and scattering three hits.

Softball

Greely 9, St. Dom’s 5

CUMBERLAND – Mary Stayte, Enza Pisini, Erin Aromando and Kim Whittum each smacked a pair of base hits to help propel Greely to a 9-5 triumph over St. Dom’s in a WMC softball matchup Monday.

Whittum earned the win for the Rangers (6-6).

For St. Dom’s (9-3), Mary Lewis had a two-run single, while Lindsey Nance and Kelsey Murphy each had two hits apiece.
