NORWAY – Robert J. Dodge, 62, of Wales, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 7, while training and doing something he loved, cycling.

He was born in Needham, Mass., Sept. 17, 1946, the son of Charles and Ingrid (Grieve) Dodge. He was educated in Jefferson schools and graduated in 1964 from Waldoboro High School. He attended Bliss College just before joining the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict.

Upon his return from overseas, he married Rolande Doyon and they had two children together. When he returned home from the service, he went to work for Central Maine Power Co., where he worked for more than 30 years as a lineman. In the 10 years before his retirement, he worked also for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 1837, as an assistant business agent.

On Aug. 22, 1987, he remarried Debra Lyon of Auburn, and they were happily married for more than 21 years. He loved going to see his children, Jason and Debbie, participate in sports and school activities. He enjoyed taking them to Nana’s house in Jefferson for vacation in the summer. Later when he was blessed with a grandson, he would take him for rides on the “big tractor.”

He lived a full and active life; he enjoyed bowling, skiing, going to the gym and biking. He also enjoyed antiquing and refinishing furniture. He gave of his time and money to many charities including the Trek Across Maine and the Maine Hospice Council Ride. He had many friends and colleagues and he will be sorely missed.

Survivors include his wife, Debra of Wales; one son, Jason Dodge and wife, Jennifer, of Minot; one daughter, Debra Dodge and her son, Caleb, of Lewiston; one sister, Bonnie Cudworth and husband, Steven, of Meridan, Conn.; aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one nephew, Christopher Cudworth.
