FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) – Jim Nance has been selected to the New England Patriots team Hall of Fame.

The fullback was drafted by the Boston Patriots in the 19th round of the 1965 AFL draft out of Syracuse after tying Jim Brown’s school record with 13 rushing touchdowns as a senior.

He was named league MVP in 1966 after rushing for 1,458 yards.

His 104.1 yards-per-game rushing average that season remains a franchise record, and his 45 career rushing touchdowns are also a franchise record.

Nance, who was also an All-American wrestler in college, died in 1992.

Team owner Robert Kraft says Nance “was one of the reasons I became a Patriots fan.”

Nance is the 14th player named to the team Hall of Fame. He will be inducted in late August.
