LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) – Capsules of the seven sports bidding for inclusion in the 2016 Olympics and making presentations Monday to the IOC executive board:

Baseball: First appeared on Olympic schedule as demonstration sport at 1904 St. Louis Games.

Attained full medal status for men at the 1992 Barcelona Games. Professionals were allowed at Sydney in 2000 though not players on 40-man roster of major league teams.

Last played at 2008 Beijing Games. Dropped from the 2012 program in 2005 IOC vote.

Suffered from perception of major league doping problems and inability to deliver top players to games.

MLB could move All-Star Break to coincide with Olympic tournament and free players to compete.

• Golf: Played at 1900 Paris Games and 1904 St. Louis Games, where only Canada and host United States competed.

Failed to achieve Olympic status in 2005.

Women’s great Annika Sorenstam and Colin Montgomerie, European Ryder Cup captain, will speak to IOC Monday.

Proposal for 72-hole stroke play tournaments for men and women, with 60 players in each field. World’s top 15 players automatically entered.

All major professional tours would alter tournament schedules to avoid clash with Olympics.

• Karate: Almost achieved Olympic status in 2005 vote. Reached final two candidates but failed to get two-thirds of IOC members’ votes.

First world championships held in 1970. WKF claims 10 million competitors in 180 countries, says karate’s therapeutic benefits recognized by World Health Organization.

Proposal for five medals classes each for men and women. Total of 120 athletes competing over two days. Host nation and continent champions guaranteed entries.

• Roller Sports: Bid presented by the International Roller Sports Federation (FIRS), but features only inline skating street races rather than skateboarding or rink hockey, which appeared as demonstration sport at the 1992 Barcelona Games.

Inline races already feature on program at Asian Games and Pan American Games.

Proposal is for 10 medal races, five each for men and women, over sprint and marathon distances with 50 competitors.

• Rugby: Played in four different Olympics between 1900 and 1924 in the full 15-a-side format.

Bidding to return in the faster, short-format 7-a-side version. Missed out in the 2005 poll of IOC members.

Bid prepared by International Rugby Board, which claims 3 million players in 116 countries.

Proposal is for men’s and women’s tournaments of 12 teams playing over two days in stadiums shared with other sports.

• Softball: Attained medal status for women at 1996 Atlanta Games. Last played at 2008 Beijing Games.

Dropped from the program in 2005 poll of IOC members. Hurt by perception it was dominated by United States – which won first three gold medals – and association with baseball.

Bid prepared by International Softball Federation, which rejected baseball’s offer of making a joint bid.

Proposal calls for women’s tournament with option for men’s medal tournament to fulfil IOC need for gender equality.

• Squash: Like karate, just missed out on Olympic status in 2005 when fell short of two-thirds support.

World Squash Federation created in 1967. Claims almost 20 million players in 175 countries.

Proposals call for men’s and women’s tournaments.

, each of 32 players, which would become top prize in the sport.

Matches would be played in mobile glass courts.
