INDUSTRY – A deputy is investigating the weekend theft of six rolls of road fabric from the side of Shaw Hill Road. The rolls are worth more than $3,000, Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Heidi Gould said Monday.

The black fabric is used underneath the gravel for stabilization and was bought by the town to improve the road, which connects Route 148 and Route 43, Gould said.

Each roll is 17 feet wide and 300 feet long and weighs 350 pounds, she said.

It is likely the rolls were carried away in some type of utility vehicle and more than one person was needed to lift them, Gould said.

The rolls were last seen Friday afternoon. They were reported missing Monday morning.

Anyone who may have information is asked to call Gould at the Sheriff’s Department at 778-2680.
