PORTLAND (AP) – A Sanford plant that makes acrylic sheet and molding compounds is laying off 35 of its 200 employees.
Evonik Cyro LLC is looking to save $9 million to make the company more competitive.
The Portland Press Herald reported Tuesday that layoffs are taking place through next month and that other employees have been offered a buyout.
Evonik Cyro, based in Parsippany, N.J., is part of the Evonik Degussa Corp., which employs 41,000 worldwide.
