Mary Murphy to perform at Sawyer Memorial
GREENE – Local vocalist and pianist Mary Murphy will bring her extensive musical and performing talents to the Araxine Wilkins Sawyer Memorial on Thursday and Friday, June 25-26.
Murphy has developed her blues and jazz styles over the years, and easily crosses over to country and other genres. She often appears with Steve McManus on drums and saxman Jerry Lachance in a jazzy blues trio.
Murphy recently won recognition for her performance and songwriting abilities from North America Country Music Associations International, at Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
Her first indie project, “Music for all the Good Lads and Lasses,” showcases a variety of vocal styles and may be heard or purchased at cdbaby.com/cd/marymurphymusician.
The shows are set for 7:30 p.m., Thursday and 2 and 7 p.m. Friday. Admission is free; doors will open one hour before the shows. The auditorium, located at 371 Sawyer Road, is air-conditioned. For more information call 946-5311.
