Every day I read about more worker layoffs and plant closings, but Central Maine Power workers have voted to authorize a strike.
I realize that CMP linemen do difficult and dangerous work, often at night, and in the most horrific weather Maine can and does dish out. They deserve to be paid well for this, and they are, particularly by Maine standards.
But because they are so well paid, it’s hard to imagine them getting much sympathy for their strike from the public, especially those who have been laid off.
Perhaps the union bosses should rethink the course of action.
