Be Creative

As part of its Be Creative @ Your Library summer reading program, the Naples Public Library will host a free children’s concert Thursday, July 2, with a return visit from local favorite Mary Ukelady at 10:30 a.m. A fun-loving singer-songwriter from western Maine, Ukelady performs whimsical, folksy and original family songs and favorites on ukulele and guitar. Her lyrical melodies celebrate country living, love and hope. Her folk songs are about ponies; lizards, toads and frogs; a dancing cow; trees; a bike ride; kindness; and gifts of love. For 10 years, she has performed in many Maine community festivals, classrooms, libraries and family events. She has released recordings, including her debut album, “Love Is Strong,” 12 upswing originals with ensemble and “Little Pony Express,” a collection of kids songs. The library’s summer hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
