FARMINGTON — The staff at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension’s Franklin County Office are preparing to move to 138 Pleasant St.
The present office will be closed to business June 25 and 26 to help employees and board members make the move. The new downtown office will open Monday.
After 16 years next to the University of Maine at Farmington’s Facility Management on the Farmington Falls Road, the staff is looking forward to the new office, said Carol Ross, administrative assistant. It will offer quite a bit more room, she said. Suite 1 will house the conference room/classroom and suite 2 will be offices, she added.
The new office and classroom is handicapped accessible.
Painting in the new office has been completed and shelving is up, she said.
“Everyone is looking forward to it. We’ll be happy when we’re settled in our new home,” she added.
At the Farmington Falls Road site the 4-H aid person and nutrition supervisor share an office and a phone while two work stations are set up in the conference room/kitchen with three employees sharing them. Earlier this year, four employees were trying to use two work stations.
The Franklin County office includes staff for programs that include 4-H
and youth development, nutrition, tourism and economic development and
agriculture/nontimber forest projects/home gardening.
The office telephone numbers will remain 778-4650 and 1-800-287-1478. Office hours will also be the same: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
