FARMINGTON — Smithfield artist Donna Asmussen will return to SugarWood Gallery as Artist of the Month for July. An open house reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 3.
Asmussen said art has played many roles in her life … “a natural pursuit as a child in an artistically inclined family, a way to reach ‘unreachable’ students during her many years in education, and a major contributor to recovery from a life-changing injury.”
Her background in education has led her to continue connections with local schools and libraries, loaning original watercolors to the children’s rooms of local libraries to encourage more children to experiment with art.
Asmussen enjoys many art mediums, including watercolor, collage and printmaking. She is working on a series of small pen and ink scenes painted in watercolor; and several will be on display at the gallery.
SugarWood Gallery is located at 248 Broadway. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
- "Antique Chairs" by Donna Asmussen will be on display at SugarWood Gallery during July.
