AUBURN — Mechanics Savings Bank recently awarded a $1,000 Banking on the Future Scholarship to St. Dominic Regional High School graduate Logan D. Michaud. She is the daughter of Wendy and Richard Michaud of Lewiston.
While attending St. Dom’s, Michaud was a member of the National Honor Society, serving as president her senior year and as historian her junior year. She was a member of Music Ministry, the Yearbook Staff, Key Club, Spirit Club and the Student Senate.
Michaud was the recipient of the Darcy Gillis Memorial Award as well as numerous academic awards. In addition, she captained the Hockey Cheering squad and the Competition Cheering squad and was honored by both with the Coach’s Award and the Spirit Award.
In the past four years, Michaud has logged more than 140 volunteer hours assisting with first grade students at Pettengill Elementary School in Lewiston.
In the fall, Michaud will attend Bentley University in Waltham, Mass., to major in corporate finance and accounting, with plans to pursue a master of business administration
For more than 20 years, Mechanics Savings Bank has provided scholarships to assist high school graduates with their higher education goals. This year’s Banking on the Future Scholarship program, with a focus on demonstrated community service, awarded $1,000 to 17 high school graduates at nine area high schools.
