PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Les Otten, the former CEO and founder of American Skiing Co. who went on to own a share of the Boston Red Sox, is considering a run for governor.
Otten has scheduled a breakfast meeting with supporters in South Portland next Monday to spell out his plans. He then will hold a news conference to announce the creation of an exploratory committee.
Otten deferred comment on whether he would run as a Republican, Democrat or independent, saying he\’ll provide his answer at the news conference.
Since leaving the ski business and the Red Sox, Otten has turned to other ventures, including a company in Bethel that sells and distributes wood-burning furnaces that use pellets as fuel.
