WATERFORD — The Waterford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 9, in the Wilkins House next to the Congregational Church, Waterford Flat
The program will be a portrayal of Artemus Ward by David Sanderson. Sanderson will combine historical information about the Waterford native — Abraham Lincoln’s favorite humorist — with a costumed performance of some of his amusing writings.
There is no charge and there will be potluck refreshments.
The society is also looking for artists to exhibit multimedia art work from or about Waterford on Sunday, July 26, at the Old Town House beside Keoka Lake. In conjunction with Music Sunday at the Waterford Congregational Church, WHS sponsors an art show every other year, with a photography show on alternate even-numbered years.
Anyone who would like to know more about how to bring their art work for display should call Joy Plate at 583-2531. The Waterford Library and the Mary Gage Rice Museum will also be open on that date.
