TURNER — Gayton Post held off a furious Andy Valley comeback in the seventh inning to escape with an 8-7 victory in a Zone 3 American Legion game on Friday.

Gayton (9-1) entered the seventh with a seemingly comfortable 8-4 advantage, but Zach Keene and Willie Brown singled and scored on the two-run single by Lucas Schandelmier. Jordan Seeley later added an RBI single, but Seeley, representing the tying run, was stranded at first base.

Gayton snapped a 4-4 deadlock with four runs in the sixth inning, when it had five of its 10 hits. Mekae Hyde doubled in a pair of runs and scored on Ben Piper’s double. Chris Jacques then knocked in Piper with what proved to be the game-winning run.

Kyle Neagle picked up the win, while Colby Youland suffered the loss. Brian Jackson had a double for Andy Valley (4-7).
