Cecilea M. T. Scott

1926 – 2009

RUMFORD — Cecilea M. T. Scott, 82, of Park Avenue, Dixfield, passed away Friday, July 17, at the Rumford Community Home, Rumford.

She was born in Rumford on Dec. 4, 1926, the daughter of Emile and Jeanne (Remilliard) Jolin.

She grew up in Rumford.

She married George A. Scott Sr. on Sept. 20, 1941. They lived on Roxbury Road in Mexico where they brought up their eight children. She stayed home raising her family until the 1950s when she went to work at Livermore Shoe Co. She later worked for 27 years at Diamond Match Co. in Dixfield until the mill closed in 1988.

After her retirement, she joined the American Legion Auxiliary in Dixfield and helped in the kitchen and with Beano games. She was a lifetime member of Weight Watchers.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, George A. Scott Sr., of Dixfield; three sons, James of Rumford Center, Daniel and wife, Patty, of Ayer, Mass., and Dennis of Madeira Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Gloria and husband, Albert Pomerleau Sr., of Rumford, Sandra Scott of Rumford, and Denise Blackman of Mexico; daughter-in-law, Louise Scott, of Dixfield; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; cousin, Norman Roy of Dixfield; brother-in-law Elwin and Verna Scott of Yarmouth; sisters-in-law, Marion and Alton LaBrecque of St. Petersburg, Fla., Beverly and John Jannace of Falmouth, and Marjorie Scott of Rumford.

She was predeceased by her parents; infant daughter, Susan Jane; son, George A. Scott Jr. in 2005; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Osie and Lena Hill, Reggie and Arlene Scott, and Frances Scott.
