ANDOVER — “Old Times and New Times in Andover” is the theme of this year’s Andover Olde Home Days celebration starting on Thursday, July 30, when judging for the garden contest will take place at 9:30 a.m.
On Friday, July 31, there will be music on the Common. Those attending should bring lawn chairs and blankets for listening to soft rock. The band concert will start at 6:30 p.m.
All day Saturday, Aug. 1, there will be food vendors, crafts, raffles, karaoke, arm wrestling, a fireman’s muster, a pie-eating contest, book sale at the library, photo contest, bike and doll carriage parade and a horseshoe tournament on the common and around town.
The fifth annual Olde Home Days Road Race to benefit the Andover Service Circle will start at the Andover School at 8 a.m. Saturday. The events are a 4.5-mile open road race, a one-mile fun run and a one-mile open walk.
In Akers’ Field there will be an antique classic car show from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., sponsored by the Western Maine Street Rods.
The historical society will host a flower show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Entries will be received between 5:30 and 8 p.m. Friday.
There will be a moon bounce and children’s games outside the town hall, children’s tractor pull, fly-casting contest and barrel rides all day. New this year will be a lawn tractor obstacle course race at the town garage as well as a road apple roll behind the tennis courts.
The button pin has a picture of the town clock, celebrating its 100th anniversary. Each button will be numbered and the first drawing for prizes will start at 12:30. Angelo Kaltsos, who is also hosting the photography contest, took the picture of the clock, which is also the featured picture on the T-shirts being sold by the Andover Olde Home Day Committee.
There will be coffee, doughnuts and cookie walk from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Congregational Church and a chicken barbecue starting at 11 a.m. at the fire station.
The parade will start at 10 a.m. and judging for the floats will take place at 9:30.

On Saturday night there will be a dance at the fire station with music provided by One Step Up. There will also be an all-game show under the lights at the Ellis River Riders Horse Club field in South Andover. On Sunday, Aug. 2, there will be an all-day open show at the field in South Andover.
