Golden Age club

AUBURN — The Sacred Heart Golden Age Club will meet Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Sacred Heart Church. The meal will be at noon, followed by the meeting at 1 p.m. 

The cost will be $3, to cover the cost of paper plates, cups, napkins, place mats, table decorations, coffee, tea, water, cream, sugar, salt and pepper,
butter, and cleaning supplies. For reservations and for those who do not feel they are able to pay the dinner fee, call Paula at 576-4082.

Dog obedience

AUBURN — The Great Falls Dog Obedience Club will start a six-week dog
obedience class on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Dogs
and puppies must be at least 3 1/2 months old and vaccinated.
Beginners’ class will be at 6:30 p.m. and advanced class at 7:30 p.m. For more information

AUBURN — Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are invited to the La
Leche League meeting to be held at
9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are welcome.
The discussion will focus on ” Breastfeeding:The Mother-Baby Relationship and the Weaning Process.”

All concerns
about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion. For breastfeeding help
or directions to the meeting, call the La Leche League leader
at 782-6645.

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The
Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Aug. 4 at the
Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Fred Letourneau
and Leslie Buzzell; second, Ron and Connie Reynolds; third, Richard
Balian and Nancy Farmer; fourth, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn. Flight B
winners were: first, Ron and Connie Reynolds; second, Richard
Balian and Nancy Farmer. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday,
Aug. 11, at the center.

The club also met on Aug. 5 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in
Flight A were: first, John Hackett and Leslie Buzzell; second, Alberta
Turner and Lucille Bilodeau; third, Claire Lyons and Anna Vitiello.
Flight B winners were Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau. Another
game will be played at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 12, at Schooner
Estates.

A partner is guarateed at both games. For further information,

Book sale

AUBURN — The Friends of the Auburn Public Library will have their book
sale from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at the library, 49
Spring St.

There will be hardback fiction, nonfiction, audio books, CDs and
more. Prices range from 25 cents to $1, and proceeds will benefit
library services, including this year’s successful summer reading
program for children and teens. Book donations will be received right
up to the time of the sale. Call 333-6640, ext. 2023, for further

Teddy picnic 

TURNER — Members of XI Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, an
international women’s service, social and cultural organization,
recently held a teddy bear picnic at the Turner Primary School.
Kindergarten students were treated to an evening of games, stories,
crafts, tea party, picnic and parade. The event was held in memory of
Rachel Billings, a former teacher and member of XI Gamma.
