DAR meeting

LISBON FALLS — Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at
1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the home of Jayne Bickford. After the business meeting, a program on Celebrities
Celebrate America will be presented. Florence Bohunicky will provide
refreshments.

Grange meeting

MINOT — Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will attend the 9 a.m.
service at the Minot Center Congregational Church on Sunday, Aug. 9.
Members are asked to be there 15 minutes before the service begins.

A planning meeting for the new year will be held after the service.
Following the meeting, members will go to the Dockside Restaurant on
Route 26, Poland, for lunch. All members and guests are welcome.

LEWISTON — The Young Professionals of the Lewiston-Auburn Area will
be collecting housewares for at-risk teens and young adults in support
of Volunteers of America.

Donations may be dropped off at the Androscoggin County Chamber of
Commerce through Aug. 20, or at the Chamber Business After Hours to be
held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at the Balloon Festival in
Simard and Payne Memorial Park (formerly Railroad Park), Oxford Street.

Donations should include any items to outfit a small home or
apartment. Specifically, housing and kitchen supplies such as sheets,
dishes, towels or laundry detergent; hygiene products such as soap,
shampoo, toothpaste or toothbrushes; and supplies such as notebooks,
three-ring binders and pencils. 

OES meeting

WALES — Lakeside Chapter 60, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the Grange-Masonic Hall, 322 Centre Road. Members should note the new meeting time.

The chapter will have its official visitation with Stephanie J. Dupal, grand conductress. Members are reminded to bring their questions about the OES to the meeting.

Women will wear colored gowns and men dark suits or tuxes. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.

HS meeting

MINOT — The Minot Historical Society
will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the Minot
Town Office, Route 119. The speaker will be Robert Bartone, assistant director of archeology at the
University of Maine at Farmington. There will be a slide presentation
about the dig at the Lewiston-Auburn Airport. Native American artifacts of the
Paleolithic Period will be shown. The public is
invited and refreshments will be served. For more information, call President Hester
