AUBURN — Emily Dumont and Hannah Mogensen represented Edward Little High School at Girls State in June.

Dumont is the daughter of Rene and Julia Dumont. While at Girls State, she participated in the town activities and was elected to the Dirigo House of Representatives.

Mogensen is the daughter of Chris Gillis and Mark Mogensen. While at Girls State, she was elected to the Dirigo Senate. At the graduation ceremony on June 25, it was announced that she had been chosen as the Fourth Outstanding Girl out of a field of 246 graduates. In addition to serving as her town selectman, she worked on the song committee of the Federalist Party and was highly active in both other party activities and in the Dirigo Senate. She helped to engineer the banner and the puzzle piece representing her town of Democracy. Her town also chose her as Miss Dirigo, the title representing a young woman who is active in all town activities including the town government.

Both women have been active at Edward Little. Dumont has played soccer and participated on the 2010 executive board and the French Club during three years of high school. Mogensen has participated in indoor and outdoor track. This past spring she placed in several events on the state girls Class A state track team. Both are co-presidents of the Class of 2010 and were selected to the National Honor Society in the spring.
