FARMINGTON — The Dick Lacourse Memorial Scholarship Fund recently awarded a $500 scholarship to Mt. Blue High School graduate Samantha Ann Mochamer, daughter of Bruce and Denise Mochamer of Farmington and granddaughter of Mike and Rita Lajoie of Lewiston.

Mochamer was a member of the Student Council, women’s soccer and Webmaster her junior year. She was the recipient of awards and honors all four years. She was on the KVAC All Academic Team, which means senior year she was an athlete playing a varsity sport and maintaining a 3.0 or higher grade point.

Mochamer was honored at the academic awards banquet for having a 90.0 grade point average or higher. She was a member of the National Honor Society and she participated in community events, such as Special Olympics and preparing Thanksgiving dinner for community members.

She was a Farmington Recreation Department volunteer soccer coach and a Titcomb Mountain Nana Webber Volunteer in ski and snowboard instruction.

In the fall, Mochamer will attend the University of Maine at Farmington, majoring in elementary education.

This is the second year the scholarship, given to assist a high school graduate with higher education goals, has been awarded.
