RUMFORD — The Police Department responded to 64 complaints from 6 p.m. Aug. 1 to 6 a.m. Aug. 7.

Homicide


Aug. 3 at 9:42 p.m.: Officers respond to 244 Pine St. to a report of
two subjects who had been shot. The victims, Roger Day, 48, and Victor
Sheldon, 22, both of Rumford, were fatally shot. On Friday, Aug. 7,
after nearly round-the-clock investigating by the Maine State Police
and Rumford police, Eric Hamel, 19, of Mexico and Richard Moulton, 20,
of Mexico were arrested on two charges of murder each.

Arrests/summonses

Aug. 1 at 8:58 p.m.: Trent Giles, 32, of Lovell was arrested by Ptl. Michael Belanger on a charge of operating under the influence and operating after suspension. Giles was unable to post bail and was transported to the Oxford County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on Oct. 6.

Aug. 1 at 9:12 p.m.: Matthew Hall, 21, of Bryant Pond was summoned by Ptl. Scott Landis on a charge of illegal possession of a useable amount of marijuana and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. Hall is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on Sept. 8.

Aug. 1 at 11:50 p.m.: John R. Bernard, 30, of Rumford was summoned by Ptl. Donald Miller on a charge of assault and criminal mischief. Bernard is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on Sept. 8.

Aug. 2 at 12:37 a.m.: Corey Edingbourgh, 27, of Rumford was arrested by Sgt. James Bernard on a charge of operating after suspension. Edingbourgh was unable to post bail and was taken to the Oxford County Jail. An appearance in Rumford District Court is set Oct. 6.

Aug. 3 at 1 a.m.: Clifford Gammon, 40, of Peru was arrested by Ptl. Donald Miller on a charge of violation conditions of release. Gammon wasn’t permitted to post bail and was taken to the Oxford County Jail. Roy is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on Sept. 8.

Aug. 4 at 8:10 a.m.: Michelle Zadakis, 48, of Rumford was summoned by Cpl. Douglas Maifeld on a charge of operating under the influence. Zadakis is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on Oct. 6.

Assault

Aug. 4 at 9:16 a.m.: Waldo Street resident reported an assault. Incident investigated with both sides reporting an assault. Charges pending after review by the district attorney.

Aug. 7 at 2:40 a.m.: Officers were called to Rumford Hospital for numerous subjects reporting an assault. Incident investigated and charges pending after review by the district attorney.

Criminal mischief

Aug. 2 at 7:58 a.m.: Erchles Street resident reported damage to the soft top roof of her vehicle. No damage listed. Case under investigation.

Aug. 4 at 11:18 a.m.: Officer discovered a broken porch window at a Pine Street apartment. No damage amount listed. Case under Investigation.

Theft

Aug. 3 at 1:17 p.m.: Prospect Avenue resident reported a $230 theft of an iPOD. Case under investigation.

Aug. 4 at 12:50 p.m.: Penobscot Street resident reported a $31 theft from her account. Case under investigation.

Aug. 4 at 5:30 p.m.: Urquhart Street resident reported theft of his wallet. Case under investigation.

Aug. 5 at 6:31 p.m.: Rumford Avenue resident reported a theft of a laptop and computer accessories valued at more than $1,000. Case under investigation.

Aug. 6 at 11:01 a.m.: Phone company reported theft of approximately $500 in cooper. Case under investigation.

Wanted

Phillip Guy-Marquis Smith, 34, of Mexico is wanted on numerous warrants for burglary and theft.
