WATERFORD — A baby show will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at the dance hall during the annual Waterford World’s Fair. Registration will start two hours before the show.
The age categories are 6 to 12 months, 12 to 18 months, 18 to 24 months and 2 to 3 years. A winner will be chosen in each age category and a grand champion baby will be chosen from the category winners. Each child entered will receive a blue ribbon and certificate. Waterford Fair, running from Friday to Sunday, July 17 to 19, will sponsor a pet rock contest. The rock must be decorated for the pet theme and must not be any larger than a grapefruit. Entries may be made from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to noon Saturday. Judging to take place at noon. There will be four top levels with prizes and ribbons to be awarded.
Whoopie pies and chocolate chip cookies will be the cooking contest venue. Whoopie pie entries must be made from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday. Judging will start at 5:30 p.m. There are two age groups: 10 to 15 years and 16 years and up. The entry must have six on a plate and each individually wrapped. One will be judged and the other five will be sold at the food booth. Cash prizes and ribbons will ,from 6 to 7 p.m. with judging to start at 7. This agricultural community event became know as the World’s Fair around 1900. In 2007, Waterford World’s Fair was voted Most Improved Small Agricultural Fair in the state. Farmers will compete with their livestock in a variety of contests and the antique tractor pull is returning to the fair this year. For the kids, there will be crafts, contests and games.
