LEWISTON — Six seniors were recognized for their respective tenures on the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council (LYAC) at the City Council meeting on June 23.

The six were lauded for their civic engagement contributions by LYAC Advisors Dottie Perham-Whittier and Maggie Chisholm. In addition, they received an LA Ambassador lapel pin from City Council liaison Denis Theriault, compliments of the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council, and an All-America City lapel pin from Mayor Laurent F. Gilbert Sr.

The six seniors graduated from Lewiston High School on June 5 and include:

Luke Jensen, who will be attending Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Va., to study political science.

Athena Andoniades, who will be attending Syracuse University to major in broadcast journalism.

Tim Stretton, who will be attending the University of Southern Maine, majoring in political science and international relations.

Nicole Pelletier, who will be attending the University of Maine Orono, majoring in nursing.

Ray Goulet, who will be attending the University of Maine Orono and majoring in either music, physics or chemistry.

Travis Laliberte, who will be taking night classes at the University of Southern Maine focusing on accounting, beginning in January 2010 and will pursue employment in an accounting related field in the interim.
