John Katula of Sumner looks around at fallen trees on his property Monday. He estimated he lost about 45 acres of trees in when a tornado hit Friday afternoon. Ten windows of his home were blown out and the roof on one side flew off. Katula said he ran for safety inside his house, grabbed his girlfriend, Christine LaBonte, and jumped into the bathtub when he saw the funnel cloud coming toward him.

Martin said she and her granddaughter were watching the movie “Twister” when she saw trees falling and their bikes flying past her window when a tornado hit late Friday afternoon. Martin said there was minor damage to her home. Officials are continuing to assess the damage in Oxford County.
