AUBURN — Mechanics Savings Bank recently awarded its $1,000 Banking on the Future Scholarship to Lewiston High School graduate Christina M. Zahn. She is the daughter of Donna and Christopher Zahn of Lewiston.

While attending Lewiston High School, Zahn was a member of the National Honor Society, Upward Bound, chamber singers, Diaboli Musicae, Centre Stage Ensemble and the indoor track team. She received the Mount Holyoke Book Award in 2008 and the Androscoggin Retired Educator’s Association Scholarship in 2009. For four years, Zahn was selected for the Maine District II Festival Choir and for two years was selected to the All-State Festival Choir. In 2007, she was named Outstanding Choral Musician.

Zahn’s community service included volunteering at Big Brothers/Big Sisters, LHSMA Bingo and serving as a teacher’s assistant at her church.

In the fall, Zahn will attend the University of Southern Maine to major in music education.

For more than twenty years, Mechanics Savings Bank has provided scholarships to assist high school graduates with their higher education goals. With a focus on demonstrated community service, the Banking on the Future Scholarship program will award $1,000 to 17 high school graduates at nine area high schools this year.
