100 years ago, 1909

According to all reports much damage was done by the heavy frost which visited this section of Maine Tuesday morning. While the weather Monday night was exceedingly chilly for the time of year, the frost came as a surprise to nearly everyone and both flower and vegetable gardens were left unprotected and suffered much damage. To just what extent the crops were damaged in this vicinity is not yet known.

50 years ago, 1959

Miss Georgette Caron of Lewiston will be a guest performer today at the Talent Round-Up sponsored by the Hartford Recreation Department at Buckley High School Auditorium in Hartford, Conn. Another local dancer taking part will be Roy Libby of Lewiston.

Miss Caron and Mr. Libby are staff teachers at the Cooper Dance Studio in Lewiston. They will be accompanied by Miss Ellen T. Cooper. This will be the second year the young local artists have participated in this event.

25 years ago, 1984

The two-alarm fire that destroyed an Auburn motorcycle dealership Thursday night may have been deliberately set, local and state fire investigators revealed Friday.

The Thursday evening fire caused an estimated $250,000 in damage at Kawasaki Country on Washington Street.

Kawasaki Country, owned by Roland Drouin and his son, Andy, sells and services snowmobiles and chainsaws as well as motorcycles.
