NORWAY — An open community meeting to continue the visioning process for the Alan Day Community Garden will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Norway Grange. The meeting is free and open to all who are interested in the effort to build a community garden on a three-acre parcel of land on Whitman Street.
Volunteers have been working on the land since May, scything, mowing, cleaning, planting and creating paths. They built three raised beds which now offer flowers and vegetables in abundance. The barn is cleared and accessible for storage and meetings.
The morning will include a slide slow of existing community gardens and brief descriptions of the work already done. Small group discussions using the World Café method of community visioning will inspire creative brainstorming, visioning and planning. The meeting will include healthy snacks and everyone will leave with a map of the land to inspire further visioning over the winter months.
