ROXBURY — With road construction under way to a 22-turbine wind farm atop Roxbury hills, project backers will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, in the Roxbury town office to introduce people and companies involved. Dessert and refreshments will be served earlier.
Record Hill Wind Project general contractor Reed and Reed will also present information on subcontracting opportunities for local firms, because it is determined to hire local people as much as possible, according to a Monday letter to Roxbury residents from Record Hill Wind LLC principal Robert Gardiner.
Representatives from Reed and Reed as well as their principal subcontractors will describe the activities and schedule for the construction phase.
Gardiner said people attending the informational meeting will learn first-hand about how the project will impact traffic and other matters of local interest.
“You may have noticed that work has begun along the Mine Notch Road — our point of access for the project,” Gardiner said.
“Heavy equipment will begin work on the site this week, and some blasting will occur within the next few weeks,” he said. “We want to alert you to the ways you can learn about any loud activities in advance.”
Gardiner urged interested people to attend the meeting and sign up for advance notifications.
After the meeting, a question-and-answer session will be held about this new phase of the project, he added.
