JAY – Jordan D. Couture scored a pair of touchdowns and Austin Clark threw for one and ran for another to lift Jay to a 42-0 football triumph over Madison on Friday night.
Couture caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Clark in the first quarter and raced 11 yards in the second quarter to give Jay a 14-0 lead by halftime.
Jordan DiMillo, Clark, Billy Calden and Ryan Pelletier ran for touchdowns in the second half.
DiMillo led Jay with 103 yards rushing on 14 carries. Couture caight five passes for 84 yards. Clark completed 10 of 14 passed for 154 yards and one score. Clark also added 47 yards on the ground on seven carries.
Bangor 44, Mt. Bue 26
FARMINGTON – Four second-half touchdowns by Lonnie Hackett staved off a gallant Mt. Blue upset bid Friday night, with undefeated Bangor rallying to a 44-26 Pine Tree Conference football victory at Caldwell Field.
Mt. Blue (1-4) led by a touchdown at halftime and was a two-point conversion away from tying the game early in the fourth quarter.
But Hackett, held in check throughout the first half, made his presence felt in every phase of the game after intermission.
Bangor trailed 20-14 at the half before Hackett’s 47-yard run put the Rams (5-0) ahead to stay with 3:55 remaining in the third quarter.
Hackett scored from five yards out to make it 28-20 with 10:45 left.
Ryan Backus brought the Cougars back to life with his third TD pass of the night, finding Ethan Kyes for a 51-yard TD. But Bangor denied the ensuing two-point conversion try.
Then Hackett handled the kickoff and raced 76 yards for a score.
Mt. Blue mustered a goal-line stand to stay alive, but Bangor smothered the next run from scrimmage for a safety and a 37-26 edge.
Hackett finished the scoring with a 65-yard interception return for a TD to cap Bangor’s 23-point fourth quarter.
Backus rushed for a 1-yard TD and hooked up with Kyes for a 24-yard score to give Mt. Blue a 14-7 lead in the first quarter.
Bangor tied it before Backus’ 41-yard TD strike to A.J. Larrabee late in the half gave the Cougars the surprising lead at the break.
