the first instance of gay protest against government persecution of sexual
minorities. Xavier performs regularly throughout the United States and internationally,
sharing his sexually, politically, culturally and often religiously themed
poetics. He is author of the poetry collections
"Pier Queen" and "Americano" and the Lambda Literary Award-nominated novel "Christ Like." The 4:30 p.m. lecture in Chase Hall Lounge, 56 Campus Ave., is open to the public at no
cost. For more information, call 786-8376. National Coming Out Day is observed every
