AUBURN — The Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, which includes St. Louis, St. Philip and Sacred Heart churches, is making final preparations for the second annual Harvest/Craft Fair. The fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, in the St. Dom’s gymnasium and cafeteria, Gracelawn Road.
Aleta Rioux is chairing this year’s fair and she said that the committee is promising a bigger and better fair than last year since the gymnasium has more available space to work in. Approximately 40 crafters, artisans and businesses will be present.
The cafe, which will be open for the duration of the fair, will have coffee, donuts, muffins, beans and hot dogs, chili and desserts.
The parish will have a baked goods and candy table, a white elephant table, jewelry and boutique table and a holiday table that will feature Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter items. An auction table will include some antique items to bid on as well as some new and gently used items.
The raffle will have prizes of first, $1,000; second, a pair of rocking chairs; third, a jelly cabinet; fourth, a curio cabinet; and six additional prizes. There will also be free hourly drawings, for which one must be present to claim.
St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center will provide free blood pressures from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m., at their display table.
St. Dom’s students will provide entertainment for students of all ages. For the children’s corner, they will offer face painting, cookie and pumpkin decorating and games. Rock Band and Guitar Hero will be available for teens. The students are working to generate funds for their Mission Mississippi Project that will take place in the spring.
The day’s activities will be capped off at St. Philip’s Church with a turkey dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Tickets may be purchased from the parish office 782-8096, from any member of the Andy Valley Knights of Columbus, Council 8742 or from a Harvest Fair Committee member. People are encouraged to purchase tickets early.
