TURNER — Authorities continued their search Tuesday night for an armed man who robbed a redemption center in North Turner just minutes before the store was set to close.
Trooper Tyler Stevenson of the Maine State Police said the robbery occurred at 7:58 p.m. at House’s Redemption Center on Howes Corner Road just off Route 4 in Turner. He said the store’s owner called in the armed robbery and told authorities he was just getting ready to close the store when it happened.
State troopers and deputies from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office were searching the area around the corner store late Tuesday night. Stevenson said the suspect was dressed in a yellow, puffy down jacket and wearing a white, Halloween-like mask that covered their entire face. The suspect is thought to be between 5 feet, 1 inch and 5 feet, 4 inches tall, but Stevenson said the store owner was unsure of the robber’s build because of the coat.
Stevenson said the suspect entered the store and brandished a weapon, though he would not disclose the type of weapon used, and demanded money from the owner. The suspect then fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
