LEWISTON — Common Ties Mental Health Services of Lewiston will highlight its efforts to integrate primary and behavioral health care at its annual meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Green Ladle Restaurant.
The keynote address will be provided by Elsie Freeman M.D., M.P.H., who is a medical director for the Department of Health and Human Services. Freeman is an adjunct professor of psychiatry with the Department of Psychiatry at Dartmouth Medical School.
Utilizing Maine based data, Freeman will review what is known about the health status of persons with serious mental illness, the impact of mental illness on the outcomes of physical conditions and will talk about why chronic health conditions are an expectation, not an exception.
Community Service Awards will be granted to Kim Wettlaufer, the executive director of the Trinity Jubilee Center and the United Way of Androscoggin County.
All are welcome to attend the meeting and are encouraged to respond to Lisa Dumont at 795-6710.
