Girls’ Swimming
Coach: Scott Morrison (fourth year)
Returning letter winners: Seniors – Megan Hussar (freestyle, breaststroke), Loren Lachapelle (IM, butterfly, backstroke), Christine Bilodeau (free), Tori Wysocki-Wilson (free); Juniors – Brenna Rasmussen (free, back), Tiffany Helsel (free), Hope Mowry (free), Kayla Williams (free); Sophomores – Melissa Paione (breaststroke, IM), Hayley Barton (IM, back), Gabby LaPerriere (free, fly).
Key losses: Jena Dubois, Brittany Michaud, Chelsea Michaud, Jenn Campbell, Sara Rohman.
Promising newcomers: Senior – Claire Johnson; Freshmen – Samantha Goulette (free, IM), Rachel Gagnon, Jessie Levesque.
Outlook: Paione placed in the top six in the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley in both the state and New England meets and was named Sun Journal all-region swimmer of the year as a freshman. She also set a school record in the 100 breast. Morrison believes Goulette has the potential to be a state finalist in her first season, as well. Hussar, Lachapelle and Bilodeau were Class A qualifiers a year ago, and several other swimmers were close. This has the makings of a terrific year for the Red Eddies.
Coach’s comment: “The girls will be very competitive in the KVAC.” – Coach Scott Morrison
